This Pastor’s Desk is more informational than devotional. I want to take the opportunity to let you know about the next sermon and Adult Christian Ed series beginning on Sunday. During Christian Ed, we will be discussing the topic of Prayer - two quotes come to mind on the importance of the topic - the first from Thomas Watson, and the second from J.I. Packer:
“Prayer is the offering up of our desires to God in the name of Christ, for such things as are agreeable to his will. It is an offering of our desires. Desires are the soul and life of prayer; words are but the body; now as the body without the soul is dead, so are prayers unless they are animated with our desires.”
“There is no peace like the peace of those whose minds are possessed with full assurance that they have known God, and God has known them, and that this relationship guarantees God’s favor to them in life, through death and on for ever.”
Our upcoming Sermon Series will lead us through Paul’s letter to Philemon. We will spend 3 to 4 weeks on the subject of reconciliation and the pathways of confession, repentance, and forgiveness that lead to it. Both of these series have a potential for deep personal and practical application - so we look forward to how God will work through his word in the life of His Church!
Please continue to pray that God would be honored as we continue in conversation with Plymouth Congregational Church regarding our possible future use of their facility.
